Bristol Arts and Music Service
BAMS are the Bristol City Council team responsible for providing arts and music tuition and advice to Bristol schools. This site will give schools and parents all the information they need to start or develop arts and music provision. There is also information about out of school Music Centres, and a Diary of upcoming BAMS events.

Music At School
This site has been approved by NGFL and has been developed by a secondary School Music Teacher. It provides links to other music education websites and worksheets. The activities range from ideas for Y7 right through to A level.

music:ed
This website has a magazine type approach to the music curriculum, with articles on the latest research and issues in music education. Teacher notes and features are available as downloadable resources.

Jazz Services
For this site you will need Real Audio or Acrobat, but the site comes with free downloads. It provides a range of information on many aspects of jazz including performances, publication, a broad and extensive database and an education section.

Music Land
This site contains a selection of teaching and learning ideas and materials for KS3 upwards. It is designed for use by both teachers and students.

Music Theory
This site could be useful for basic theory and consolidating traditional approaches to the teaching and learning of music. It could be used to link into a module of work on keyboards.

The Classical Archives Site
This is a site packed full of information on classical composers, that contains an alphabetical index to search for information on specific composers. It also contains a timeline to help with historical eras in music.

Trev's Music Page
This is site which has been developed by a secondary music teacher offering lesson plans, ideas for student self assessment sheets, ideas on musical stimuli to use for lessons, links to music education suppliers, Examination Boards, Higher Education Institutions that offer music courses and a direct link to the NGFL website.

Ancient Future world music
This is a very good site for World Music.

Music at School
This site has been approved by NGFL and has been developed by a secondary School Music Teacher. It provides links to other music education websites and worksheets. The activities range from ideas for Y7 right through to A level.

Music Teachers Resource Site
This site has been available for some time with a range of items, including teaching materials and ideas for Schemes of Work. It has been developed and is maintained by a Secondary Head of Music and some areas of the site are only available through subscription.

School of Lifelong Learning and Education: Middlesex University
This is a site that has been developed to support pupils and teachers with music technology in the classroom. It consists of classroom projects, task based training materials and articles, MIDI files and samples and links to other sites.

Music Wing
This site provides support for those schools using Heinneman's New Music Matters Series. Also if you did not receive or have mislaid the Becta materials 'Choosing & Using Guides' for Music IT you are able to download them free from this site.

Arbiter Group
This website is designed for users of Cubase and Cubasis sequencer packages.

Computer Music Magazine on-line
This is the website for Computer Music magazine. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will find a useful summary of what is available. The site includes tutorials on Cubase, Logic and other programs as well as reviews of programs and demo downloads.

Steinberg network
This is the home site for Cubase and other Steinberg programs, including tutorials and information.

Cubase Net
This site has tutorial information and a forum for problems.

EMagic News
This site includes Logic software. Clicking on 'Links' will take you to a list of related sites, and at the bottom of the page are links to tutorial information and FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Sibelius
This site contains hints and tips on using the program itself, an on-line magazine, interviews, a forum and regular updates.

Coda Music Technology
This is the home site of Finale and Print Music software and their free Notepad download which enables scores to be saved as a web page.

Sample net on-line
There are two main types of audio files used over the net and these can take the form of complete pieces stored as MP3s (a compressed audio file to make it smaller to enable it to be transferred more quickly over the net) or wave files. The latter are usually sound samples that can be downloaded onto your computer and then used within compositions. The above site contains samples that can be downloaded without charge and are copyright free.
