Sir Robert Hitcham's Art and ICT pages
Created by Sir Robert Hitcham's Primary School in Suffolk, this site contains lesson ideas for effective ways of using ICT in art. These include abstract collages based on the work of local artist Phil Steam, and works inspired by Andy Warhol. The site also gives help and advice on the techniques used.

The Amazing Picture Machine
This site is useful for teaching staff. It contains an art and culture resource list (by topic), a surfer's list about art on the web, an art and design list (by country) and Art and design publications on the web.

The National Gallery
Gives interesting information about the National Gallery's Collection and Exhibitions, also links to the Tate Galleries.

The Royal Academy of Arts
This site gives information about: - Exhibitions, the Collection (with pictures) RA Schools, on-line shopping, visits, educational programmes and workshops

dArt - The Internet Art Database
This is a large listing service. It is a communal marketplace for collectors, artists and dealers. It shows a wide range of work from all over the world.

Artcyclopaedia
This site has a database of 7,500 great artists and tells where their work can be located. The database is catalogued in by: chronological order, Movement, medium, subject, nationality, and alphabetical order.

Quiltart
Shows an interesting gallery of quilts with explanations of the inspirations.

Axis
A database of contemporary work showing on-line exhibitions. Gives information about artists and makers living/working in Britain.

World Art Treasures
This features the 100,000 slides of the Jacques Edouard Berger Foundation. The slides are drawn from the main civilizations- Egypt, China, Japan, India & Europe. There is a children's section showing techniques and lots of interesting information.

Art on the Internet (based at the Virtual Teachers Centre)
This is a service for school professionals. It provides news, support for professional development, and help with searching for resources.

Artlex Art Dictionary
For artists, collectors, students and educators. This illustrated dictionary has definitions of more than 3,100 terms.

The World of Art
This is an easily accessible site that shows biographies and samples of well known artists' work.

Tate Galleries
Good quality pictures, with details about the collections, a forum, plans for the galleries, touring exhibitions and art related merchandise.

The National Portrait Gallery
This is one of the biggest on line galleries, with over 10,000 works on view. You can see the most influential characters in British History, portrayed by artists of their time. The On-line shop sells a wide variety of prints.
