The Hub is a multi-agency housing advice centre which
- provides access to accommodation
- advice on related issues to single people and childless couples.
Social workers based at the Hub (two for CYPS):
- work mainly with 16 to 18 year olds
- do mainly crisis led work
- carry out assessments - similar to a duty and assessment team
- work towards homeless prevention via information, advice and liaison, with both the client's parent(s) and with other agencies
- work towards reconciliation and mediation with parents to facilitate the young person's return home.
- Work towards minimising the need for the young person to use B&B accommodation and support them towards accessing supported housing
- make referrals to appropriate agencies on behalf of the young person e.g. Young people's Drug Project, Mental Health Services, Learning Disability Team etc.
Referral to social workers based at the Hub can be by:
- self-referral, parent(s), neighbours, Education agencies, GP, friends etc.
