Emergency Duty Team (EDT)

Social Work Service For Out Of Hours

The service is provided in emergency situations outside normal working hours which cannot wait until the next working day and is available:

  • Monday-Thursday 4.45pm to 9.15am the following day
  • Friday 4.15pm to 9.15am the following Monday
    (i.e. throughout the weekend)

All Bank Holidays and Statutory Days are also covered by the service.

Child protection enquiries and investigations will be given the highest priority.

Referrals on Form 201, should be sent via fax or email if a situation is likely to arise outside normal office hours. EDT have ‘look up’ facility only on PARIS. Any further information on PARIS that you want to make sure that EDT is aware of should be marked as “Crucial Information”. You may also want to highlight any “Alerts” that are significant in this way. For full referral details and criteria see Information for Social Workers.

If existing service users are in a crises, and require advice out of normal office hours, locality staff should pass on the telephone number to them, letting EDT know about the situation as explained above.
