Overview of Integrated Children’s System (ICS) Child Protection Records

Strategy Discussion Record (D)

The Strategy Discussion Record details concerns for the welfare of a child and the further action agreed by representative managers from social care, health and the police, to safeguard the child. The Strategy Discussion Record sets out clear instructions, within an agreed timeframe about what further information is required in order to guide decisions on how the child should be safeguarded.

Section 47 Enquiries Record (E)

TheOutcomeof s.47 Enquiries Record is the social worker's report of their actions following a Strategy Discussion. TheOutcomeof s.47 Enquiries Record shows the social worker's professional judgement about whether a child has been or continues to be suffering significant harm or at risk of suffering significant harm. TheOutcomeof s.47 Enquiries Record will help guide a subsequent Strategy Discussion, or a Child Protection Conference.

Initial Child Protection Conference Report (F)

The Initial Child Protection Conference Report draws together information from the Strategy Discussion and theoutcome of s.47 enquiries, as well as an Initial or Core Assessment if they have been completed. It includes information gathered from other involved agencies and the social worker's assessment of the child's current needs and risk of harm. The Initial Child Protection Conference Report informs the Child Protection Plan or Child In Need Plan.

Outline Child Protection Plan (Fb)

The Outline Child Protection Plan provides a bridging plan between the Initial Child Protection Conference and the first Core Group meeting, which makes the detailed Child Protection Plan. The Outline Child Protection Plan sets out a how the child's unmet needs will be met and how any risks and concerns identified in the conference will be addressed and managed.

 

Core Group Record (Fc)

The Core Group Record is the social worker’s report of the discussions and the decisions made in the Core Group meeting. It provides an interim review of the Child Protection Plan (Fd) between Child Protection Conferences. The Core Group Record is a key partnership document to underpin the multi-agency approach to safeguarding the child and supporting their family.

Child Protection Conference Review Report (R)

The Child Protection Conference Review Report draws together the information gathered by the social worker since the initial or previous review, from the Core Assessment and Core Group Record. It informs the review about how effective the child protection plan has been to safeguard the child and support the family.
