What is the Integrated Children's System?
"Integrated Children's System (ICS) is a conceptual framework (..) it is a business project to strengthen professional practice, which will be supported by IT. The benefit, in addition to improved outcomes, is that paper forms and data entry will be replaced by e-forms."
(SOCitm Briefing November 2004)
The DfES has designed the Integrated Children's System (ICS) as a process model:
- where the carrying out of specific functions
- is recorded by the completion of designated forms
- which ensures the collection of particular data at specific times
- which supply the reporting requirements for annual returns.
They have provided two documents, the Core Information Requirements Process Model and the Core Information Requirements Data Model in support of this.
