Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)

If you have a disability, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty which affects your ability to study, you may be eligible for additional help from the Disabled Students Allowance. The Disabled Students Allowance does not provide you with extra money for living expenses. It provides funds for additional support that you may need to enable you to study at the same level as other students on your course.

In normal circumstances it can take two or three months to receive items of support after your initial application. It is therefore important to apply as early as possible if you think you may be entitled to this kind of help. The process in Bristol works as follows:

Apply for funding: To qualify you need to be eligible / in receipt of Student Finance or be in the process of submitting an application for Student Finance as a new applicant. You can also apply for the DSA if you are studying Part-Time or on a Postgraduate course. There is a separate application form if you fall into one of these two categories.
