The Governor Development Service offers services for Governors, Clerks and Headteachers alike in order to assist them in carrying out their statutory responsibilities.
The GDS provides advice, support and development opportunities through:
- An advice helpline and website
- A regular monthly and termly bulletin and newsletter
- A centrally-based training programme
- School based training
- Placement of potential LA governors
The Governors' Bulletin is sent to Headteachers, Chairs and Clerks and back copies are posted here for information. They are all in pdf format. Please note that from September 2009 the Governors' bulletin is produced termly, not monthly.

'The Bristol Governor' is sent to all governors three times a year. It is sent out in November (autumn edition), February (spring edition) and June (summer edition).
