Bristol LA intends that over the next few years, all schools reach a basic standard in inclusion. The Bristol Inclusion Standard Level 1 provides a baseline for schools to be able to ensure they have appropriate policies and practices in place to comply with the law and develop good practice.
In October each year, schools can apply to work towards the Standard and receive funding to support the work. They collect evidence which is assessed by a multi-agency panel (see link Background and Criteria). Successful schools are awarded a certificate in an awards ceremony held each November/December.
Level 2 of the Bristol Inclusion Standard is currently being developed for schools who want to further develop their practice as part of the Self Evaluation Framework.
