Children's Workforce

Welcome to the Children’s Workforce pages.

What we do

The Children's Workforce section supports workforce planning and development across the children's workforce. This is everyone working in services for children, young people or families, including early years and play, schools, children's social care, health, sport and leisure and youth work. Some services are statutory (i.e. public sector) while others are private, voluntary or independent (PVI).

These are the four priorities for the children's workforce in Bristol :

  1. Recruit effectively
  2. Develop and retain people
  3. Strengthen multi-disciplinary working and develop new roles
  4. Promote strong leadership and management

You can find more information on our aims, priorities and current work in the ‘Bristol Children's Workforce Strategy'. These are informed by the national agenda and priorities, as set out in The Children's Plan and ‘Building Brighter Futures: Next Steps for the Children's Workforce'.

The Bristol Children's Workforce Partnership Forum is responsible for implementing the Workforce Strategy. This is a multi-agency group which meets quarterly. Please see the link on the right for further information and copies of papers.
