Continuing Professional Development (CPD) underpins school improvement and the delivery of all our priorities. At the heart of Bristol’s strategy for school improvement is the belief that it is teachers, headteachers and others working in schools, supported by governors, parents and the wider community, that improve schools and raise pupils’ achievement.
Bristol LA offers a programme of CPD activities for schools including courses, conferences, networks and briefings. Some activities have been developed in collaboration with higher education and offer opportunities for accreditation.
However CPD is more than just courses. It encompasses a variety of opportunities including working with other colleagues, sharing best practice, using internal and external specialist consultants linked to school-based activities, observation and feedback, independent and self-study, and much more.
We aim to make schools aware of the wider picture of CPD opportunities available and have set up a website to make CPD more accessible and responsive. The website enables you to book our central CPD courses online as well as find out about a range of other providers and opportunities.
