The Behaviour Improvement Team provides cross-phase consultancy and support to schools and early-years settings. We work with school staff, pupils and school improvement colleagues to reduce exclusions, improve behaviour and raise attainment by:
- supporting schools and settings to develop positive behaviour management systems through a whole-school review process
- providing SEAL consultancy to named schools (Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning)
- providing support and guidance on the inclusion of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
- helping schools to develop effective and consistent protocols for pastoral support programmes
- improving behaviour for learning through professional development and coaching.
The service operates within three area teams, each with its own team leader.
Referrals for individual pupils will be followed up by area team leaders. All referrals will be considered and prioritised according to the urgency of case and the team’s capacity. Children in care will be given priority status.

Schools will be identified by SIO’s and scrutiny of exclusion data and will be invited to take part in a full behaviour review process.
Referrals for individual pupils will be responded to on an area basis. To discuss individual pupils contact your area team leader (see below) or complete the referral form.
