School Admissions - Primary

Children born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006 may start school in September 2010.

The closing date for applications was 23rd October 2009 at 5.00 pm and the online application system has closed.

Offers of places were posted via 2nd class post on 29 January 2010. An offer of a school place has been made for every child for whom an application was received by the published closing date of 23rd October 2009. We have been able to offer 92% of parents at least one of their preferred schools. All offers have been made in accordance with the priority order contained in the published admission arrangements. Where it has not been possible to offer a place at a preferred school a place has been offered at an alternative school where a place is available.

Use the link to 'Reception Allocations 2010' on the left to see how places were allocated at each primary school. You will also find additional information relating to 'Infant Class Size' by following this link.

Please note that we cannot e-mail the results of your application, tell you the result over the telephone or send out duplicate letters until after 4 February 2010.

We will not be able to give you your child's place on the waiting lists for each school before 22 March when responses to offers have been received.

If you submitted an application after 23rd October your application will be dealt with in a second round of offers in April 2010.

If you have not already made an application you may complete a paper form which can be downloaded using the link on the left and sent to School Admissions at the address below. It may not be possible to make an offer of a place on 29 January but an offer will be made as soon a possible after that date.

New primary school places in Bishopston

Bristol City Council is proposing that the new provision adjacent to the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club site will be managed by Ashley Down Junior School. This will create 30 new primary school places each year in this part of the city, so as many pupils as possible can go to a school close to their home. There is also consideration being given to enlarging the facility to 60 places per year.

For more information on the proposal to extend the age range and enlarge Ashley Down Junior School click on the link to 'School Organisation' on the left.

Parents who want to express interest should go to the 'New Bishopston Primary Places' link on the left.
