Stay Safe

Vision and Outcomes

Children and young people are safe from maltreatment, neglect, violence, sexual exploitation, accidental injury, bullying, discrimination, crime and anti-social behaviour. Parents; carers and families provide safe homes and stability. Every individual child feels secure and cared for, and informed about key risks and how to deal with them.

Staff, carers and the public recognise and promptly raise child protection concerns. Agencies work together to ensure a swift response to referrals, appropriately recording and sharing information to secure every child’s safety and well-being.

Improvement Priorities

  • Reduce the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people and improve the equity of responses to cases where emotional abuse and neglect are suspected
  • Improve outcomes for safeguarding children and young people by successful implementation of working together arrangements
  • Improve outcomes for vulnerable children and children in need by strengthening prevention and early intervention arrangements
  • Improve outcomes for young carers and their families by developing effective early intervention
  • Improve outcomes for children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • Minimise bullying and the impact of bullying
