Achieve Economic Well-being

Vision and Outcomes

Every child and young person has high self-esteem, aspiration and the confidence and skills to be successful in future learning and work. This includes the ability to access resources to support learning, anytime, anywhere. Every young person feels valued by their communities, and is positively engaged in shaping the services and learning experiences that they receive. By bringing learning and support together, children and young people develop their personal pathways to adulthood. Those who are disadvantaged are particularly supported into appropriate housing, learning and employment.

Improvement Priorities

  • Develop successful learners (see Raising Attainment at all key stages and in relation to under-performing groups)
  • Improve pathways for learning, including access to work-related learning 14-19 through improved collaboration with FE colleges, employers and training providers
  • Create first class learning environments for delivery of 14-19 programmes across the city; anytime, anywhere
  • Develop strategic partnerships with outside bodies and agencies to accelerate improvement in outcomes 14-19
  • Increase the percentage of 16-18 year olds engaged in education, employment and training (EET)
  • Improve housing provision for children and young people and reduce the proportion of families with children living in unsuitable homes
  • Raise the aspirations of all children, young people, parents and carers and ensure they are well informed about the education, employment and training opportunities available
