National Performance Framework for Children's Services

There is a new National Performance Framework for Children's Services including 198 indicators. Indicators are derived from 3 year Public Service Agreement (PSA) and Departmental Strategic Objectives (DSOs). There are 70 Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) indicators and 18 other indicators owned by other Government departments. The new indicator set replaces all other data sets. One of the pdfs available from the links on the left shows the new performance framework and the other pdfs are the PSAs and DSOs.

There is currently a Government led consultation on the definitions behind these indicators. The lead contacts for this are Tracey O' Brien (Children and Young People's Services) and Pete Franklin (Corporate Improvement Team). A technical handbook will be published in February and the new framework will be introduced in April 2008. A key challenge will be reshaping our planning and performance management processes to deliver on the new framework. Local Area Agreements will be a key mechanism in this.

For further information on this, please contact Lucia Dorrington, Strategy Leader: Strategic Planning and Performance on 0117 9222028 or Tracey O'Brien, Strategy Leader: Information Management on 0117 9037654.
