Bristol Annual Performance Assessment 2008

Performance Assessment (APA) is an annual exercise by which Ofsted judges the effectiveness of the contributions made by Bristol Children and Young People's Services to improve outcomes for children and young people. Judgements are made against each of the five Every Child Matters outcomes and Capacity to Improve.

As part of the 2008 APA process, Bristol Children and Young People's Services was awarded the following judgements:

  • Overall Effectiveness of Children's services - Adequate
  • Being Healthy - Good
  • Staying Safe - Adequate
  • Enjoying and Achieving - Adequate
  • Making a Positive Contribution - Good
  • Achieving Economic Well-being - Adequate
  • Capacity to Improve, including the management of services for CYPS - Adequate

From April 2009, the Annual Performance Assessment has been replaced by an annual performance rating of Children's Services.

This Ofsted judgement is based on inspection of services and comparing performance against outcomes for Children and Young People. This is part of the Council's Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).
