The Early Support Programme is a national initiative designed to identify and develop good service provision for very young disabled children (aged 0-3) and their families so that there can be:
- improved initial assessment of need
- a more co-ordinated service across agencies such as education and health, through the use of key worker systems and family held records
- better information and access for families
- improved professional knowledge and skills
- service review and development
- partnership across agencies and geographical boundaries, so that access to good services does not depend on where families live
